Methanol Mapping in Cold Cores: Testing Model Predictions*

چکیده

Chemical models predict that in cold cores gas-phase methanol is expected to be abundant at the outer edge of CO depletion zone, where actively adsorbed. adsorption correlates with volume density cores, and, nearby molecular clouds, catastrophic freeze-out happens densities above 10$^4$ cm$^{-3}$. The production rate maximized there and its does not overcome rate, while molecules are shielded from UV destruction by gas dust. Thus, abundance should generally correlate visual extinction depends both on column density. In this work, we test most basic model prediction maximum associated a local $A_V\simeq$4 mag dense constrain parameters observational data. With IRAM 30 m antenna, mapped CH$_3$OH (2-1) (3-2) transitions toward seven L1495 filament Taurus measure abundance. We use Herschel/SPIRE maps estimate extinction, C$^{18}$O(2-1) Tafalla & Hacar (2015) depletion. explored observed modeled correlations between abundances, depletion, varying key parameters. modeling results show hydrogen surface diffusion via tunneling crucial reproduce needed reactive desorption efficiency matches one deduced laboratory experiments.

Cold Gas in Cluster Cores

I review the literature's census of the cold gas in clusters of galaxies. Cold gas here is defined as the gas that is cooler than X-ray emitting temperatures (∼ 10 7 K) and is not in stars. I present new Spitzer IRAC and MIPS observations of Abell 2597 that reveal significant amounts of warm dust and star formation at the level of 5 solar masses per year.

Predictions of a Cold + Hot

Cold + Hot Dark Matter (CHDM) = 1 cosmological models require a total neutrino mass 5 eV. Because recent data support the ! oscillation explanation of the cosmic ray deecit, which requires that m() m(), this suggests that m() m() 2:4 eV. The linear calculations and N-body simulation reported here indicate that an = 1 CHDM model with two 2.4 eV neutrinos (designated C 2 DM) agrees remarkably wel...

The Structure of Cold Molecular Cloud Cores

A brief summary is presented of our current knowledge of the structure of cold molecular cloud cores that do not contain proto-stars, sometimes known as starless cores. The most centrally condensed starless cores are known as pre-stellar cores. These cores probably represent observationally the initial conditions for protostellar collapse that must be input into all models of star formation. Th...

Testing replica predictions in experiments

We review the predictions of the replica approach both for the statics and for the off-equilibrium dynamics. We stress the importance of the Cugliandolo-Kurchan offequilibrium fluctuation-dissipation relation in providing a bridge between the statics and the dynamics. We present numerical evidence for the correctness of these relations. This approach allows an experimental determination of the ...

Testing the predictions of the central capacity sharing model.

The divergent predictions of 2 models of dual-task performance are investigated. The central bottleneck and central capacity sharing models argue that a central stage of information processing is capacity limited, whereas stages before and after are capacity free. The models disagree about the nature of this central capacity limitation. The central bottleneck model claims that central processin...
